Parent Agreements

Middle & High School Parents

Parents understand that CHEB class instructors will be assigning work for students during our weekly class times. Parents are expected to assist their students with learning and completion of those assignments. Parents agree to check emails from CHEB, respond to communications from CHEB administrators and instructors, and stay advised on their students' performance/grades via their students' Canvas accounts.

Parents agree to fulfill their financial obligation to CHEB and its teachers through timely payment of all amounts due including the annual CHEB Membership fee, class tuition fees, class supply fees, and any field trips or incidental activities.

Parents agree to fulfill their volunteer commitments. All parents of middle and high school students are expected to volunteer 2-3 times per semester at the front check-in desk for either a morning or afternoon shift. This shift may be performed by either parent or by another adult family member such as a grandparent. Primary parents are also assigned to one special committee each year. Families who do not complete their volunteer responsibilities may not be allowed to register for classes the following year.

Parents will keep CHEB updated in writing on any email, address, phone, or medical changes promptly.

Attendance is expected each week with exceptions made for reasonable instances of vacations or sickness. Five (5) or more times during the semester, may affect a student's enrollment in subsequent classes.

Parents agree to notify CHEB leaders and instructors if their student is going to miss class. Students are expected to continue with their lessons and consult their Canvas account for information on new assignments. Instructors may email you with further instructions.

If a student misbehaves an incident report will be recorded and parents will be contacted by a member of the board.

Parents agree to hold harmless the host church, Tates Creek Christian Church, and the volunteers at CHEB for accidents that may occur.

Learning Zone Parents

All Learning Zone (elementary) parents will have weekly responsibilities. You are responsible for your volunteer duty each week. These duties may include, but are not limited to setting up classrooms, cleaning up spaces that we use in the church, and volunteering in the classroom as needed. If you cannot complete your duties, it is your responsibility to find someone to fill in for you and communicate this change to Adrienne Carroll, Learning Zone Coordinator.

As a parent, you must agree to the following policies:

  1. I will fulfill my financial obligation to CHEB and its teachers through timely payment of all amounts due including the annual CHEB Membership fee, class tuition fees, class supply fees, and any field trips or incidental activities that my children choose to participate in. If I am unable to pay on time, I will notify LZ Leadership and other arrangements will be made.
  2. I will keep CHEB updated in writing on any email, address, phone or medical changes promptly.
  3. I agree that attendance is expected each week with exceptions made for reasonable instances of vacations or sickness. I will contact the LZ Coordinator and make her aware of any absence in advance. If I miss five (5) or more times during the semester, I will lose my student's enrollment for the following semester and will go to the bottom of the waiting list for the next available spot.
  4. My entire family is expected to arrive on time for classes and volunteer responsibilities. I will notify the LZ Coordinator if I am going to be late. Habitual tardiness or tardiness that affects classroom participation is unacceptable.
  5. We will be counted as tardy if our family is later than 10 minutes after classes begin. After 3 tardies, this will be counted as 1 absence.
  6. I understand that if my child misbehaves during class time the following will occur:
    •  After being given three verbal warnings my child will be pulled out of class to complete age-appropriate copy work, then will return to the classroom.
    • If my child has been pulled out two times in one semester, then the next step is a meeting with the parents, the student, and LZ leadership to determine a course of action that will ensure a successful classroom experience for all involved.

I have read and understand all the policies and responsibilities required of me and my child during the LZ school year. I will complete all that is required of me in a Christ-like manner and will follow the guidelines presented to the best of my ability. In the event that I cannot fulfill my requirements, I will contact the LZ leadership immediately and work diligently to reach a compromise that is equitable for all.

I am agreeing to hold harmless the host church: Tates Creek Christian Church and the volunteers at Learning Zone for accidents that may occur. In short I am ultimately responsible for my child’s safety.

Associate Member Parents

I agree to fulfill my financial obligation to CHEB through timely payment of all amounts due including the annual CHEB Associate Membership fee and any field trips or incidental activities.

I will keep CHEB updated in writing on any email, address, phone or medical changes promptly.

I am agreeing to hold harmless the host church: Tates Creek Christian Church and the volunteers at CHEB for accidents that may occur. I am ultimately responsible for my child’s safety.

I agree to abide by the rules for any CHEB event as established by the board and event organizers. If a student misbehaves during a CHEB event, an incident report will be recorded and parents will be contacted by a board member.

Field Trip Guest Policy

Families agree to be the responsible party for any additional friends/family members they bring along to any CHEB organized field trip. This includes payment for the field trip and any additional costs/fees that occur during the field trip. If anyone in their party is asked to leave the field trip for inappropriate behavior or misuse/damage of property, the CHEB Member will forfeit their fee and be financially responsible for any damages that occurred.
